I already made many mistakes, and some friendships where trumble because something stupid I did. My impetuosity sometimes speaks higher than I would like. I have to remember, The only way to get the best of an argument is to avoid it! Once, I and my friend were in a discussion about, how was the best way, to invest our company's money. I had one opinion, totally different from his, and I presented the facts, why my opinion was better than his, he just didn't agree with me, and when we realized we were arguing each other and that discussion was becoming stronger, and a feel of anger was contaminating ourselves, we just finish the discussion without any solution, and when we realized we didn't invest the money, and we were not talking each other anymore. Because one stupid thing we lost time, money and a good relationship. After sometime we talked about the situation and fortunately we solve our differences. “A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still”.
In business world is very important to be smart, intelligent and have good friends. Fortunately the opinions of each one are different, because of it we have a wonderful world. Wonder if all people had the same opinion. This would be easier for sure, but too much boring! No news, no inventions and probably nothing much progress. Diversity moves the world, bring new ideas and new ideas, bring money and progress. The problem of different opinions is when someone disrespect it, or think that is smarter than you. I liked the suggestion of the book HTWFAIP when teach the following sentence, when you are positive about something and the others don't agree with you: "I may be wrong, I frequently am, let's examine the facts.” If you are going to prove don't let anybody know it!
Show respect for others opinion and NEVER say they are wrong! sometimes I show respect for others opinion saying: - “I respect your opinion but I think you are wrong” When I say that, the person listen just YOU ARE WRONG. So never say they are wrong, but: - “let examine the facts”, and when you are doing it, if you are wrong for some reason admit it!
Any fool can try defend his or her mistakes - and most fools do. We learn in the scriptures that any sin, will be forgiven unless repentance, and repentance in this case is admit when we are wrong. Not just admit it as it doesn't matter, but, admit it quickly and emphatically. People like to deal with honest people, and honest people make mistakes and admit it, the transparence, of making business and closing deals will avoid future problems. If you made a mistake and you know it, don't lie to you or to to your partner, but be honest and admit it, quickly and emphatically, people will admire you, not because your mistake but because your honesty.
I will be more patient and avoid argument, will remember that the best of an argument is to avoid it, respect others opinion and understand that a man convinced against his will is a man with the opinion still. When I make a mistake I will admit it quickly and emphatically. Doing it I will become a better leader, and an example, people will like to work together with me.
